The 2014 IEDTA Conference, co-sponsored with the Washington School of Psychiatry was a resounding success! We are back from three days in Washington DC (okay, Bethesda, Maryland) packed with wonderful clinical presentations, opportunities to connect with old friends, colleagues, and new friends. People are buzzing with ideas and energy for the next conference.
Many thanks to the WSP leadership and staff for making this such a successful conference, to the speakers and many volunteers who gave time and energy to make it all happen, and to everyone else who attended and contributed to the good energy!
One of the IEDTA board’s priorities is to broaden the participation in the organization’s functioning, which means the “c word” (committees). We have committees in place but many of them are not yet up and running. Please: get involved! Look at the list of committees. One that interests you? Join up, via the contact person. Ideas that don’t fit in the committee structure? Email our president, Kristin Osborn, kristin@kristinosborn.com.
Some conference feedback:
I’m flying back to Alaska with warm feelings and memories of the weekend in DC. It was nice to reconnect with old friends and meet so many new comrades in learning. Congratulations to Kristin and the entire IEDTA board and conference committee for such a successful and fun event! The vibe felt very open, inviting, and supportive of new and diverse ideas. As a new presenter, I particularly appreciated your encouragement throughout the process, and your openness to presentation topics beyond the traditional clinical demonstration.
—Tony Rousmaniere, Fairbanks, Alaska, USAThere were so many meaningful and touching exchanges… I appreciated the spirit of support and connecting with new and old friends. And of course all the great work changing lives in many different ways.
