Boston, MA: “Four Masters Approach Experiential Dynamic Therapy”

7 November 2015 @ 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM

$135

A structured focus on deep experience of emotion can make therapy more effective and rapid, even for patients once thought unsuitable for short-term therapy.  A rapidly-growing evidence base has demonstrated the effectiveness of some of the experiential dynamic therapies (EDTs).  EDTs include the work of Habib Davanloo (Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, ISTDP) and his former students Leigh McCullough (Affect Phobia Therapy, APT) and Diana Fosha (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, AEDP), among others.  This workshop brings together four experts on EDT: Nat Kuhn, Kristin Osborn, John Rathauser, and Steven Shapiro, who have devoted their careers to mastering, supervising, and disseminating these therapy models. They will each present video recordings of their work, with opportunities for questions and discussion in a collegial atmosphere.

6 CE credits are available.  For additional information and to register, click here.

Nat Kuhn, MD, has almost 20 years’ experience practicing, supervising, and teaching EDT, beginning with his close association with Leigh McCullough.  He is the author of Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy: A Reference (2014), and co-author of Treating Affect Phobia: A Manual for Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (2003).  He has a private practice in Belmont, MA, and is a Lecturer (Part-Time) in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

Kristin A. R. Osborn, MA, LMHC, specializes in Affect Phobia Therapy and offers training and consultations for mental health professionals internationally. She is co-author of Paraverbal Communication in Psychotherapy (in press) and is the President of the International Experiential Dynamic Therapy Association (IEDTA) and on the advisory board of Stockholms Akademi for Psykoterapiutbildning (SAPU). She is a Lecturer (part-time) in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and has a private practice in Concord, MA, where she offers weekly trainings on how to integrate psychotherapy research into clinical practice.

John Rathauser, PhD, is a psychologist in private practice in Kendall Park, NJ.  In his 20 years of ongoing exposure to Habib Davanloo’s Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), eight were spent in Dr. Davanloo’s Montreal Core Training Group.

Steven S. Shapiro, PhD, has over twenty years of clinical and teaching experience. He has been studying, practicing and training others to use Experiential Dynamic Therapies since the mid-1990’s, originally Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (STDP) and subsequently Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). He is a Senior Faculty member and founding member of the AEDP Institute in New York City.
