This workshop will focus on how to use Deliberate Practice to enhance ISTDP training. There will be some lecture, but most of the time will be spent in role-play exercises and group discussion. My goal is to give you some new ideas to enhance your ISTDP training and the supervision you provide others. The first day of the class will teach the theory/research of Deliberate Practice. I will guide you through trying out the Deliberate Practice exercises I have developed, including exercises to help therapists develop their own mobilization capacity. The second day will be focused on helping you experiment with developing your own Deliberate Practice exercises for yourself and your trainees, using both ISTDP and research from the science of expertise. If you are currently supervising or training other therapists, I can show you how to use Deliberate Practice in that work. – Tony Rousmaniere
Included in the workshop fee is 4 hours of videoconference group supervision to follow after the seminar to support participants in developing their own Deliberate Practice.
Course eligibility: This course is open to anyone who has taken at least three years of core training in ISTDP, or the equivalent. Students must bring their own laptop computer with a video of a therapy session for the experiential exercises.
