Dr. Joel Town will provide a NEW online training event introducing the ISTDP model for treating post-traumatic stress symptoms.

When faced with exposure to one or more traumatic situations involving significant harm to the self or another, symptoms may develop characteristic of post-traumatic stress disorder. This includes intrusion symptoms, negative mood and cognitions, arousal and reactivity symptoms and dissociation. The topic of this workshop is how to conceptualise and then work with these symptoms as manifestations of unconscious defences and unconscious anxiety.

ISTDP was developed to treat the emotional sequelae of trauma. Over this two-part series, we will discuss how to treat a spectrum of patients with post-traumatic stress symptoms. Part 1 will focus on ISTDP with patients describing discreet single trauma incidents in adulthood with newly emerging post-traumatic stress symptoms, alongside a history of mixed symptom and interpersonal problems. Part 2 will discuss treatment for patients who have experienced multiple traumas, including childhood abuse, and who have often had lifelong difficulties with functioning.

Due to the use of video-based teaching material, participants need to have completed or are participating in an ISTDP/EDT core training program, or are ISTDP/EDT trainers, or their associates. Please check with organisers.
