Penetrating Defenses and Surmounting Shame

13 May 2015 By IEDTA Website

Susan Warren Warshow and Jon Frederickson will be presenting a workshop titled “Penetrating Defenses and Surmounting Shame” in Los Angeles, 26-27 September, 2015. Susan and Jon have presented together over the years in a spirit of mutual respect for each other’s unique therapeutic styles. Utilizing rich recorded session material, both will offer analysis and discussion of the change process that takes place by reaching buried affect with compassion and skill. At this annual conference, always featuring new case material, you will discover how they:
•  Disarm Distancing Defenses and Shame States
•  Accurately Identify and Attend to Somatic Signals
•  Sustain an Internal Focus for Accelerated Results
•  Heal through an Authentic Attachment Relationship
•  Apply an Evidence-Based, Dynamic Treatment
Topics to be covered in 2015 include: “Shame Sensitive Interventions to Disarm Defenses”; “Working with Self-Destructiveness—Barriers to Emotional Closeness”; “Guilt—the Driver of Self-punishment”; “Metabolizing Unconscious Emotions: the Calm after the Storm”; “Addressing Devaluation of the Therapist”; “Confronting Lying in Therapy”. Each day will end with processing of the therapist’s internal experience.
