Essentials of Attachment-Based ISTDP, London 2019

14 June 2019 By IEDTA Site Editor D

Beginning in London in November 2019, this new 1-year foundation course in London covers the basic theory and key techniques of ISTDP. The programme consists of a series of lectures as well as video-based supervision. Topics covered include:

  • establishing a working alliance;
  • building ego-adaptive capacity, understanding unconscious anxiety as the gateway to the unconscious; and
  • turning the ego against defences to deepen emotional experiencing.

For those clinicians who would like to go on to complete a three year Core training, this course is equivalent to the first year of the IEDTA accredited programme.

Dr Sharon Lewis is a chartered clinical psychologist registered with the British Psychological Society and the Health and Care Professions Council. She is an IEDTA accredited supervisor and trainer. Her therapeutic approach is based in the attachment-based model of Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy and she has trained extensively with Dr Robert Neborsky who acts as course consultant. She has a particular interest in working with clients with anxiety difficulties and treatment-resistant depression, as well as those diagnosed with physical health conditions such as auto-immune disorders, fibromyalgia and chronic pain.

Further information can be found at www.istdp.london and for any questions, please  email sharonlewis@me.com
