Anger is an emotional state that can range from mild irritation to murderous rage. Clinicians have been faced with an increase in their caseload of individuals presenting themselves with anger control problems. Cognitive-behavioral strategies provide an important component to treatment of individuals who are experiencing difficulty with anger regulation. Yet, cognitive –behavioral techniques are often insufficient to process and work through feelings of anger. Clients need to learn a way to tolerate the emotion of anger and also recognize other emotions that may be concealed by their anger. Participants in this workshop will gain an understanding of how the treatment of anger problems can be enhanced by using both cognitive- behavioral interventions as well as a psychodynamic approach through affect phobia therapy.
