In real time, audiovisual workshop with Dr. Ferruccio Osimo

Video clips from real psychotherapy sessions will provide a direct view of the clinical application of IEDP (Intensive Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) with an acting out, suicidal, somatizing, and highly self-punitive case of a person with BPD. A major emphasis will be given to (1) how IE-DP initiates the accelerated therapeutic process from the first extended interview, and (2) change signals detectable in the sessions that immediately follow.
After a brief theoretical introduction, Dr. Osimo will intersperse the video clips with frequent explanation of the techniques as they are being used, encouraging participation and questions from the audience.

– spotting the person’s self-sabotaging/self-punitive forces
– initiating the experiential-dynamic therapeutic process
– modifying the person’s stabilized defensive habits
– graded exposure to the painful conflicting emotion from the first interview
