The IEDTA Email List

also known as the “EDT-List” listserv

About the IEDTA Email Discussion List

If you are a licensed or pre-licensed mental health professional (including full-time students in mental health professions), you are eligible to join the IEDTA’s email discussion list.

The email list provides a forum for discussion and exchange of information on Experiential Dynamic Therapies (EDTs), including:

  • Announcements for the EDT community, including conferences and training opportunities

  • Discussion of EDT theory

  • Illustration of clinical questions with de-identified case material

  • Announcements about research projects, including requests to collaborate

  • Referral requests

  • Apply by completing the form at the bottom of this page. You should hear back within a week.

  • No! Licensed, pre-licensed, and full-time students in mental health professions can join the list for free. In the future, we plan to make access to the archives an IEDTA membership benefit.

  • Once your are enrolled, you can post by sending an email to edt-ml@lists.iedta.net from the email address you applied with. When you hit “Reply” to an email you receive from the list, your reply will go to the post’s author only (“back-channel”). When you hit “Reply all,” your reply will go to the entire list.

We encourage you to include your full name and city/town with each post, and we hope that first-time posters will introduce themselves to the list.

  • We work hard to maintain a community that supports open and lively discussion in an atmosphere of respect, tolerance, and open-mindedness. To do this, we have found it necessary to avoid discussion of current politics. Click here to see our guidelines.

  • You can change your subscription to “Digest,” which sends the message from the last 24 hours each day, or “Abridged,” a daily email which includes links to full versions of each post. See “Can I change my settings?” for instructions, where you can also see how to turn off all messages temporarily. If you really want to go, see “How can I unsubscribe?”

  • It’s easy. Just send an email (which could be blank) to edt-ml+unsubscribe@iedta.net; the footer of each post has this instruction in it. You can also leave the group from the Google groups page (see below). If you change your mind later, send a re-subscriber request via list-help@iedta.net.

  • Yes—as long as your email address is connected to Google, you can view recent posts. Just go to groups.google.com, and click on “IEDTA Email Discussion List.” (If you have more than one Google-connected account, you may need to make sure you are logged in to the correct one, by clicking on the circle in the upper-right-hand corner.

In the future, we are planning to allow IEDTA members to view a larger message archive.

  • Yes, please do! Go to our list on groups.google.com (see “Can I view previous posts?” for detailed instructions). Click on “My membership settings” toward the bottom on the left. If your “Display name” is just your email address, please set it to your actual name, so that your actual name will appear on the web page of previous posts. If you feel you are getting too many emails, you can change your subscription to “Digest” (sends a max of 25 emails from the previous 24 hours, which we exceed rarely if ever) or “Abridged” (short versions with links to the full post). If you really need a complete (temporary) break, you can set to “No email” and then reset later to “Each email” or some other option when you want to return. You can also unsubscribe by clicking on the “Leave group” button.

  • The IEDTA email list moderator is Allen Kalpin, MD. In general, posts are not pre-screened, but the IEDTA reserves the right to do so.

  • Email the moderator, Allen Kalpin, at list-help@iedta.net.

  • The IEDTA does not share or sell email addresses of subscribers. When you post, your email address is visible to other subscribers. Of course, do not including any identifying information when posting clinical material.

Our list is hosted by Google Workspace, which is contractually forbidden to use the list for data mining or AI training.

  • Only IEDTA members may post commercial announcements. Such announcements should be limited to items related to EDT. We discourage frequent repetition of announcements.

    • The IEDTA reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to caution and/or remove anyone who posts material that is disrespectful or in any way abusive.

    • List members should only use email addresses of other list members for personal communication. It is forbidden to send mass emails to list members except through the list.

    • List members should not release posts or email addresses of other members without explicit permission of those members.

    • List members should not post copyrighted material beyond brief “fair use” excerpts.

      Please also review our guidelines.
