One of the exciting announcements from our recent IEDTA conference in Boston is that Allan Abbass, Professor of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, will assume the presidency of the IEDTA.
Allan is one of the leading figures in the ISTDP world. He trained extensively with Habib Davanloo, and has been a tireless force behind research, teaching, and dissemination of ISTDP. He is a prolific author and co-author of scientific publications, and of two books: “Reaching through Resistance: Advanced Psychotherapy Techniques” (Seven Leaves Press, 2015), and, with Howard Schubiner, of “Hidden From View: A Clinician’s Guide to Psychophysiologic Disorders” (Physiologic Press, 2108). As Director of the Centre for Emotions and Health at Dalhousie University, he has trained and mentored many in the next generation of ISTDP practitioners.
In addition, he is a model of the spirit of inclusiveness and mutual respect that the IEDTA is dedicated to fostering. We are happy to welcome him back to the IEDTA Board in his new role as President.
You can read a brief interview with Allan about his vision for this new role on the ISTDP Sweden website.
