This is a three year core training program in ISTDP that is based on the Gold Coast, QLD, Australia. A second core training program is conducted in New Zealand with didactic meetings alternating between Wellington and Christchurch.
Core training requires a one-year commitment, renewable at the start of each training year.
The focus is on developing competence in the application of ISTDP across the entire range of psychological functioning (Spectrum of Psychoneurotic + Spectrum of Fragile Character Structure).

Format of Training
This is a three year core training program and is comprised of two components:
1. Didactic training. 3 X 2 day meetings (weekends; early, middle and later in the calendar year) per year. The focus is on teaching and practicing of the core skills of ISTDP with extensive use of the trainer's video recorded ISTDP sessions. Attendance in person is required at all didactic meetings.
2. Small group, internet-based (video conferencing) supervision. Trainee's meet with the trainer approximately every 2 weeks (20 meetings per year) to engage in supervision of their video recorded application of ISTDP. There are 3 trainees plus the trainer in each small group. Each trainee receives 30 minutes of supervision on their video recording and then observes the supervision of the other trainees in the group.
Commitment Required:
Didactic component: 6 days of training per year. Each training day is 6 hours, plus breaks. Training days are always on weekends.
Small group supervision: 90 minutes approximately every 2 weeks (20 meetings per year).
