In 2015, Dr Ross Crowther-Green and Dr Mark J Stein will lead UK-based Core Training in ISTDP. Dr Crowther-Green and Dr Stein have completed core trainings in ISTDP, have assisted with international core training groups, and are International Experiential Dynamic Therapy Association (IEDTA) certified teachers and supervisors. They have presented at conferences, led workshops, published in the area, and regularly provide training placements and/or supervision to national and international colleagues. They will be offering training that reflects the teachings, and approach to ISTDP taught by Josette ten Have-de Labije.
The training and supervision will predominantly take place over four weekends per year, for three years. There will also be a further four training days per year for three years (i.e., a combined total of 36 days), in order to meet IEDTA criteria for certification. These will be agreed with the group members. Trainees are also encouraged to meet in small supervision groups in between training weekends in order to maximise their learning.
The training blocks will be held in or close to Birmingham, West Midlands, UK. The programme will include didactic theoretical teaching, video presentation and discussion of clinical work of the supervisors, supervision of the clinical work of Core Training group members, and role plays. As is the norm in Core Training in ISTDP, core training group members are expected to present video recordings of their clinical work for supervision within the group, providing each member of the group the opportunity to learn from each other’s practice and supervision.
The training will meet the IEDTA ISTDP certification criteria for ISTDP core group training.
