An ongoing 1-3 level training program in L.A. structured in 10-month blocks, with DEFT certification at each level.
A “user-friendly” style of teaching EDT that emphasizes a shame-sensitive, emotionally engaged, empathic and compassionate style. DEFT works to transcend the unconscious, self-defeating system, consisting of the toxic affects (shame, anxiety, and guilt), other defensive affects and defenses against closeness.

Learning Objectives

Effective treatment interventions for patients with a broad range of psychopathology will be demonstrated and explored via lively discussion, didactic presentations with slides, live role plays and an extensive library of videotaped sessions to facilitate the process. Trainees are encouraged (though not required) to present their own videotape material for group supervision. Process notes and audio recordings are also accepted. Reading material recommended.
